What you'll do


HomeRun is seeking Senior Software Engineer in the Architecture &
Services Engineering chapter. In this role, you will be part of the Customer Delivery Experience Squad, delivering order tracking experiences that drive the future of marketplace shopping in Australia. You will be responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of the technical components and the building of backend API solutions.

Reporting to the Engineering Chapter Lead, you'll work in a fast-paced team focused on solving technical, product and customer experience challenges. The successful applicant must have an innovative approach to solving problems and must demonstrate the passion and commitment to strive for excellence through a customer-facing lens continually.

Collaborate with your product and engineering team members, contributing and evolving ideas to deliver simple solutions to complex problems.

Offer clever engineering ways to experiment and prototype features rapidly whilst constantly delivering customer value.

Partner across engineering teams to design, deliver and maintain operationally efficient, robust and resilient systems that align with the tech strategy

Empower your team members, value the team's success as a whole and mentor and coach your fellow team members.

Set the standard for thorough and meaningful code reviews, better engineering practices and standards, improved continuous integration and delivery processes


What you'll bring

Experience in agile delivery and ability to balance rapid iteration speed whilst continually improving the overall stability, scalability, security and modularity of the product

Passion for collaborating with the team and mentoring junior members of the team

A genuine desire for learning and growing, both as an engineer and a teammate.

Ability to break down complex requirements and provide estimates and solutions with associated effort vs impact tradeoffs

Familiarity with telco, financial services and/or retail sectors will be advantageous.

Technical Capabilities

Strong experience with Node.Js

Comfortable with writing queries for the database like SQL server, Firebase, Firestore and NoSQL databases (Mongo)

Experience with secure coding practices and microservices architecture

Understand code testability, experience in building pipelines and DevOps (CI/CD systems, infrastructure as code, etc.)

Aware of different integration patterns like RPC and Asynchronous.
