The Department
The Department of Regional Development, Manufacturing and Water (DRDMW) drives growth for Queensland by managing sustainable water resources, leading innovation in manufacturing, and developing our regions. From our offices in Brisbane and a network of regional offices and manufacturing hubs, more than 700 DRDMW staff work to create a Queensland where communities, businesses and water resources are sustainable and resilient.
The Regional Economic Development (RED) business unit is committed to delivery of the Governments objectives for the community, Our Future State:
Advancing Queensland's Priorities. In particular, Regional Development will help the government to 'create jobs in a strong economy' and 'be a responsive government' in particular in supporting the growth of regional economies.
The Role
As the Executive Director Regional Development, this is your opportunity to lead and manage the development and delivery of policy, programs and services provided by the department to grow and diversify regions, including a new Regional Collaborative Governance Model.
In your role as Executive Director, you will plan, organise and manage Regional Development responsibilities, including shaping and leading the multidisciplinary teams to deliver high priority programs, services and initiatives that deliver value for money, and solutions which are outcome focussed for Regional Queensland.
Key Accountabilities:

- Develop and manage networks at the regional and state level, and proactively and collaboratively liaise and negotiate with government agencies, industry representatives, key client and stakeholder groups and the public in support of the department's vision and strategic objectives.
- Collaboration with key agencies to implement the delivery of the Regional Governance Collaboration model which is focused on collective strategies and innovative problem solving.
- Working across Government to address regulatory and collaborative barriers to regional and industry development and growth.
- Leading rapid and effective responses to regional opportunities and events, representing the department, Deputy Director-General, Director-General and Minister.
- Developing, leading and managing a highly engaged, capable workforce in contributing effectively to RDMW's vision and strategic objectives for regional development.
About You:

- Proven strategic leadership skills to achieve the growth of our regional communities across Queensland.
- Exceptional communication, ministerial and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to influence and be the face of regional development.
- Travel into regional locations will be required.
