About the Role

This is a fixed term SES 2 role

The Executive Director, Spatial Services &
Planning Solutions is asenior leadership position within the Data and Digital Division of the Strategy &
Precincts group. This role leads development of accurate and digitally enabled spatial solutions for Victoria, for use by internal stakeholders across the department, other governmental bodies and the public.

The Executive Director is accountable for providing strategic direction, overseeing the branch's operations, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality spatial services to internal teams, other governmental bodies, and public customers. The position requires strong leadership, collaboration, and technical expertise to drive excellence in spatial analysis, mapping, and data integration.

Position Outcomes
The Executive Director, Spatial Services and Planning Solutions plays a crucial role in leading the Spatial Services branch at the Department of Transport and Planning. The director ensures the development and maintenance of accurate, up-to-date mapping and spatial models for Victoria, setting high standards for quality, consistency, and timeliness. This includes innovating the capture and integration of spatial data from diverse sources to enhance the utility and richness of spatial models.

The role involves enhancing spatial services through the design, development, and maintenance of digital solutions that support critical department functions, constantly improving digital tools to better user experience and decision-making capabilities.

Key to this position is fostering a collaborative and innovative environment within the branch, aligned with departmental values. The director maintains strong relationships across departmental teams to effectively leverage spatial services in various projects and initiatives. Collaboration extends to other governmental bodies, such as the Chief Geospatial Scientist, to synchronize spatial strategies for broader benefits. The director also actively engages with public customers and stakeholders to tailor spatial services to their needs and support their decision-making processes, contributing strategically to the planning and operational priorities of the department.
