About the Role

This is a 3 year fixed term SES 2 role.

Please note appointment to this role will likely be at the base of the SES 2 range.

As the Executive Director of Resilience and Emergency Coordination, you will be at the forefront of providing leadership and strategic direction to our dedicated team. Your crucial role involves oversight and coordination of the Department's response to emergencies across Victoria, ensuring the industry's ability to withstand, plan for, respond to, and recover from crises. This entails building capability, tactical management, and collaborative efforts with government, agencies, and the industry. Navigating a complex stakeholder environment, your relationships will span EMV, emergency services, and transport operators. Your responsibilities also include initiating, leading, and driving a focus on building staff capability within the Department of Transport and Planning, embracing a continuous improvement approach.

Position Outcomes

We are seeking an ideal candidate who can strategically shape and lead the Resilience and Emergency Coordination team, contributing significantly to enhancing Victoria's emergency preparedness. This role involves collaborative efforts with key stakeholders to develop effective plans and strategies. Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for fostering staff capabilities within the Department of Transport &
Planning, adopting a continuous improvement approach to ensure the team's ongoing development and success.

The ideal candidate will be adept at effectively managing the Department's emergency responses in Victoria, working closely with government agencies, emergency services, and industry stakeholders. This involves leading tactical management and initiatives to ensure the industry's readiness to handle emergencies. As a crucial member of the Network Operations executive team, the candidate will play a key role in cultivating a high-performance, inclusive organisational culture. This includes embodying the values of the Department of Transport &
Planning while collaborating with senior leadership to support the strategic planning process and delivery of departmental priorities.
