Council is looking for an experienced Senior Waste Technical Lead to develop strategy, deliver projects and undertake data management within our Resource Recovery team.

You will work across our contract and strategic waste teams, to develop a circular economy plan, update our resource recovery and waste strategy and deliver projects which support best practice contract management. You will also play an important role in delivering projects which support our Resource Recovery and Waste Strategy.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop a circular economy plan for Council, updating our Council's adopted Resource Recovery and Waste Strategy
  • Maintain, monitor, and evaluate data, identifying and managing key projects to improve data management as it relates to waste contracts
  • Design, deliver and evaluate programs and policies that link to Council's waste and resource recovery strategies, policies and contract
  • Assess Development Applications against current Development Control Plans to ensure best practice collection and recovery systems are implemented at development sites. Site visits may be required

The successful applicant will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in an environmental/sustainability field or relevant qualification and a minimum of 3 years' experience in Waste Management or Sustainability.
  • Demonstrated experience in the development of plans, strategies and report writing.
  • An ability to think strategically and innovate to resolve complex challenges.
  • An ability to review, analyse and present complicated data in a simple format, including the development of business cases and financial analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience in collaboration and teamwork, building relationships with direct reports and people at all levels both internally and externally
