Your impact

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer with an insatiable thirst for knowledge and open and welcoming to change. You will play the role of a strong contributor to the product vision and drive team planning while mentoring and coaching junior team members.

You are a strong problem solver, always willing to help others learn and promote strong collaboration within a cross-functional team of Product Managers, Backend and QA Engineers and UX/UI designers to achieve product roadmap goals.

A day in the life

- Shape the architecture of our backend stack

- Work with payment networks including Mastercard and Australia's real-time payments network (NPP)

- Conduct performance testing of our transaction processing engine

- Scale our infrastructure to support traffic from our rapidly growing customer base

- Provide insights from our datasets to help improve the product offering

- Collaborate in software design discussions and working directly with internal users for testing and feedback

- Perform security testing and hardening our infrastructure

Skills we'd love you to bring along

- Around 4 years of experience developing Python applications or similar

- Comfortable with Relational Databases such as MySQL or Postgres

- Experience with RESTful JSON APIs

- Comfortable working within a Linux environment

- Ability and desire to learn new technologies and tools

- Passionate about writing high quality code and robust test coverage

- Strong interest and experience with (or appetite to learn)

- Test Driven Development (TDD)

Bonus points

- Ability to build highly reliable, fault-tolerant, and scalable production systems

- Experience with Amazon Web Services - Elastic Beanstalk, EC2, RDS, S3, Route53, Lambda

- Experience with asynchronous message brokering and queuing services such as Redis

- Experience with Terraform or similar Infrastructure as Code tools

- Experience with DevOps (CI/CD)

- Experience with React
