Fast-growing global brand, based in Sydney, is looking for a Design Engineer to join the team. Requiring a hands-on approach to problem solving to deliver designs and robustly engineered solutions to specification, with a high degree of quality. Role and Responsibilities
You will be a lateral thinker and problem-solver, taking responsibility for decision making for the complete product lifecycle and its impact on environment and community. You'll have the enthusiasm and ability to change existing product development approaches.
Responsibilities include:
- Ensuring products are holistically considered and linked to the company's mission and ethics
- Detail design of electromechanical assembly designs with a broad range of materials, production and finishing knowledge and thermal management design
- Fast turnaround prototype construction, produced both internally and with contractors
- Communicating with overseas manufacturers on component and assembly development and product quality expectations
- Maintaining technical documentation and reporting to stakeholders
- Following product performance test procedures to ensure the quality and safety of product satisfies regulatory standards and brand expectations
- Supporting the development and delivery of the strategic product roadmap in an efficient and timely manner
Your Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical, mechatronic or manufacturing engineering with electromechanical experience in both a product design and manufacturing environment
- Circa 7+ years of engineering experience
- Experience with domestic consumer products in the food or beverage industry a plus
- End-to-end product development experience
- Motor driven product development experience considered highly desirable
- Strong knowledge of fabrication techniques, materials and manufacturing processes and rapid prototyping
- Proven experience collaborating with cross functional teams, locally and abroad, as well as coordinating with international manufacturing partners
- Familiar with both regional and international safety compliance standards
- Proficiency in CAD modelling (Solidworks), mechanical and thermal analysis knowledge considered an advantage
