This trusted and well-known Aged Care provider has multiple residential aged care homes situated throughout Brisbane

About the role:

The Regional Manager is accountable for the smooth running of all Brisbane residences within the designated portfolio, and contributes to organisational planning, reporting, business development, and policy and procedure implementation.
Operational Performance

  • Foster a culture of resident-centred care
  • Ensure a high standard of care and well-being that provides for physical, emotional, spiritual and social needs of residents
  • Embed staff commitment to clinical excellence and customer service
  • Ensure that resident care meets professional, organisational and legal standards and ethical requirements
  • Maintain clinical staffing at safe and efficient levels within budget and the relevant Enterprise Agreement, applicable Modern Award and NES provisions
  • Understand the differences in role accountability, responsibility and supervision of the Registered and Enrolled nurses, Personal Care Workers, Lifestyle and Administration staff and reinforce delegation within the relevant scopes of practice
  • Act in a professional manner at all times and positively promote the Aged Care facility when dealing with internal &
    external customers


Quality/Safety and Risk Management:

  • Ensure Residential Aged Care complies with the statutory requirements of both State and Commonwealth Aged Care and Health Authorities and associated regulatory bodies, in collaboration with the Group General Manager Operations and the Quality Management Team.
  • Contribute to quality improvement programs and other organisational activities to meet Accreditation Standards
  • Review and evaluate all resident incidents.
  • Review and implement risk assessments as appropriate.
  • Lead Occupational Health and Safety activities to ensure a safe work environment for staff, residents, community and visitors. Support the Aged Care OHS&
    W representatives
  • Minimise exposure to incidents of infection/cross-infection of residents, staff, visitors and the general public by adhering to the Infection Control policies and procedures.
  • Support the direct reports
  • Actively participate in the organisation's Risk Management Program.
  • Oversee the collection and analysis of Residential Aged Care key performance indicators, implementing improvements as required in conjunction with the Group General Manager Operations and the Quality Management Team.
  • Work collaboratively with the Quality Management Team to enhance the aged care quality systems and contribute to quality improvement programs and other facility activities to meet service/accreditation standards

Administration:

  • Ensure payroll processes are accurate and submitted on time to payroll;
    ensure overtime and agency usage is authorised in line with company policy
  • Participate in the strategic, business and budget planning process and report progress in respect to Residential Aged Care;
    accepting responsibility for operating within budgetary

Professional Development:

  • Maintain a contemporary knowledge base to provide safe effective resident-centred care and to meet the changing needs of your position, career &
    the aged care sector
  • Maintain all mandatory competencies for both self and staff and be actively involved in other training &
    development as required
  • Responsible for encouraging, motivating and supporting staff to increase their personal and professional development

Skills and experience:

  • Extensive Aged Care experience
  • Current AHPRA registration
  • Demonstrated relevant management experience, including sound financial, human resource and strategic management skills.
  • Sound clinical skills and knowledge of contemporary residential aged care practices including the use of aged care software systems.
  • Proven ability to effectively initiate, lead and manage change in a team environment to achieve organisational objectives and translate organisational values into workplace culture.
  • Ability to manage emergency situations
  • Ability to engage staff utilising advanced communication and consultation skills
  • Ability to translate Values into organisational culture.

Desirable:

  • Post Graduate qualifications in management
  • Knowledge of the Commonwealth's Aged Care Royal Commission and the effects this will have on future residential aged care models.
