Ventia operates in the Defence and Social Infrastructure (D&
SI) sector providing maintenance and support services to clients within the Defence, Social Infrastructure, Housing &
Communities, Local Government and Critical Infrastructure sectors.
Ventia's Defence Business Unit, operates one of the largest private firefighting businesses in Australia. This includes fire response (aviation, structural and bushfire), search and rescue first response support, fire station watch room services and air traffic control transmission monitoring, alert protocol and pilot communication.

Reporting to the General Manager of Defence, Ventia now have a genuine opportunity for a Project Director to be based in either Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne or Canberra.

The Role
Accountable for the delivery of the Defence Base Services Firefighting national contract, Ventia are seeking a commercially astute Project Director that can embrace leaders to fulfill client and contractual requirements. The ideal candidate will be a proven leader demonstrating empathy to change and foster workplace culture to align with Ventia's values. The successful incumbent will have a background in managing large operational teams across critical infrastructure assets and environments. In addition, have a thorough understanding of industrial relations.

Duties Include:

Commercial

  • Develop and foster strong commercial relationships with the Defence (ADF and APS) with a focus on communication and engagement, reporting, escalation and community participation
  • Provide firefighting technical support and advice to the contract and client
  • Set and maintain key financial, strategic and operational measures and goals for the fire service contract
  • Develop business plans for the procurement of the latest generation of firefighting appliances, personal protective equipment (PPE), training aids / facilities and other general equipment, ensuring Ventia remain an industry leading firefighting operation
  • Continuously monitor and review operational &
    financial performance for contracts under scope
  • Develop activity and resource planning processes to ensure setting of realistic time / budget estimates
  • Provide oversight and deliverables of financial, timeline, risk mitigation and processes

People

  • Successfully foster an inclusive working environment by leading employee engagement and driving service excellence
  • Effectively manage the application and renewal of enterprise agreements to mitigate and manage business risk
  • Collaborate and work closely with managers to identify areas of innovation, continuous improvement and operational excellence

    health outcomes by rolemodelling our LEAD behaviours (Learning, Engaging, Accountability, Discipline) and leading a culture of compliance

About you:

Note the below are desirable, but not mandatory, we are seeking a Project Director that can bring a diverse background:

  • Post Graduate Qualifications (preferred)
  • Experience in managing a large portfolio of critical infrastructure assets
  • Ability to lead operational teams through complex and changing environments
  • Experience in managing large, geographically dispersed teams
  • Customer Centric through excellent relationship management and engagement with senior strategic clients
