Reporting to the Director Regulation, the Manager, Regulation Strategy will provide operational policy and regulatory strategy advice, and develop detailed reports and briefs for managers, executives, Commissioners and Ministers on complex issues, new policy and operational issues relating to child safety, CSS and RCS.

The Manager, Regulation Strategy will provide practical guidance and support to operational teams in the Commission undertaking regulatory functions and those organisations required to comply with the CSS and RCS in the form of policies, strategies and procedures to guide the administration of the Commission's regulation functions.

In this role you will:

  • Lead the preparation of high quality briefings and reports on complex operational policy and regulatory strategy issues for senior management following research, an examination of relevant data and legislation, sound analysis and synthesis of operational and community imperatives
  • Design and prepare accurate and accessible operational policies, strategies, frameworks, procedures, and project and implementation plans to guide the regulatory work of the Commission
  • Deliver presentations to senior management, staff and stakeholders to explain policies, processes and procedures
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Have demonstrated experience in regulatory policy or analysis and the design and implementation of effective regulatory practice
  • Have demonstrated experience in managing high performing teams in a high pressure environment of competing priorities and tight timeframes
  • Be flexible, responsive, creative
  • Demonstrate initiative and have excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrate strategic thinking in planning, design, development and deployment of new processes and identify opportunities for enhancements to existing processes
  • Have an interest in improving policies and practices affecting the safety and wellbeing of Victorian children and young people.
