The Game Management Authority (GMA) is an independent statutory authority responsible for the regulation of game hunting in Victoria. It delivers programs to improve and promote sustainable and responsible hunting in Victoria.
The GMA is responsible for:
- issuing Game Licences and related testing;
- managing open andclosed seasons for game species;
- enforcing game hunting laws and taking action against those who do not hunt legally;
and
- educating andinforming hunters on how to hunt legally and responsibly in Victoria.

  • Manage the implementation of enforcement initiatives aimed at promoting ethical and sustainable practices in game hunting
  • Deliver strategic guidance to the CEO and Board of GMA on planning and implementing risk-based, intelligence-driven programs
  • Senior Executive Services Band 1 (SES1), Fixed Term up to Five (5) Years

The Game Management Authority (GMA) is seeking to appoint a Director Compliance and Intelligence to provide high-level strategic state-wide expertise and advice to the Chief Executive Officer and Board of GMA on the planning and delivery of risk-based, intelligence-led engagement, regulation and enforcement programs to achieve responsible and sustainable game hunting.

As part of the senior management team, this role will suit an experience senior executive experienced in navigating complexity and ambiguity. You will excel at synthesising diverse information to understand key issues within a complex, multi-stakeholder setting. Engaging with government and community groups, you will optimise compliance in game hunting. You'll oversee work programs and budgets to ensure efficient service delivery and lead collaborative efforts with partner agencies to coordinate interagency compliance operations during peak hunting seasons.

Success in this role requires advanced technical proficiency in risk-based compliance, addressing strategic issues, strong stakeholder management, and fostering cross-functional collaboration. The ideal candidate will be a proactive leader fostering a positive culture, enhancing organisational capabilities through coaching, mentoring, and performance management. You will lead a focused team handling strategy, programs, and compliance services. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, along with strategic acumen, are crucial. Postgraduate studies in contemporary risk-based compliance or senior executive experience in regulatory management are advantageous.
