About the Role

As Legal Counsel, you will be responsible for providing legal advice and support to Cashrewards on various matters related to the company's operations, contracts, compliance, and regulatory issues. Working in a small legal team and reporting to the General Counsel, this is a 12-month fixed-term contract covering a period of parental leave. We are open to Full-time and Part-time applications.

Your Focus

  • Review, draft and negotiate various commercial contracts including supplier agreements, SAAS agreements, non-disclosure agreements, marketing agreements, outsourcing agreements, merchant agreements and general commercial agreements.
  • Providing legal advice on a broad range of operational, management and risk mitigation queries.
  • Working closely with the Marketing team on marketing initiatives and promotions including review of marketing collateral and promotional terms and conditions to ensure compliance with consumer laws.
  • Advise on legal compliance requirements including privacy laws, consumer laws and Spam Act.
  • Assist with the provision of legal and compliance training to the business.
  • Review and management of internal policies and other compliance related documentation.
  • Working closely with cross functional teams to implement new products, ensuring compliance with various laws and regulations.

About You

  • Bachelor of Laws and admission to practice in Australia.
  • At least 4 years' post admission experience in a relevant field within top tier or recognised mid-tier Australian practice, or in-house legal position.
  • Demonstrated ability to draft, review and negotiate agreements and provide high quality legal advice in a timely manner to meet the expectations of the business.
  • Well-developed research, analytical, interpretation, and problem-solving skills with strong commercial judgement.
  • Ability to provide training on key legal concepts and issues to non-legal internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with internal clients and senior Management.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills with demonstrated experience in negotiation.
  • Background in data privacy or competition/consumer law would be well regarded.
