) operates as an agency within the Catholic Archdiocese of Brisbane, entrusted with providing Catholic education to 78,000 students across South-East Queensland. Boasting an annual revenue of $1.5 billion, a workforce of 12,000 employees, and 146 schools, BCE is a significant Not-for-Profit (NFP) entity governed by the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profit Commission Act and Canon Law. As BCE endeavours to fulfil the outlined priorities in its Strategic Plan (2021 - 2025), it seeks a new Head of Finance to collaborate with the Executive team in instigating change, improving operational efficiencies and promoting continuous improvement.

About the Role
Reporting directly to the Corporate Services Executive, the Head of Finance leads a team of 40. The role must ensure prudent stewardship, and the provision of timely, relevant advice to BCE schools and Head Office to drive long term financial sustainability. You will have oversight of four direct reports who are responsible for Group Financial Performance, Planning and Procurement.

You will spearhead a major change initiative aimed at promoting active engagement to modernise the organisation. This will be achieved by refining and implementing financial policies and processes that foster best practice across BCE. Your proactive support of the Corporate Service Executive, Executive Director and Catholic Education Council through the provision of sound financial and commercial advice aligned with strategic goals will enhance the productivity and efficiency of BCE.

Critical to your success will be your ability to cultivate robust working relationships and positively influence internal BCE stakeholders, including Principals and senior leadership staff, as well as external stakeholders such as the Queensland Catholic Education Commission and other agencies within the Archdiocese.

About You
A CA/CPA finance executive who can demonstrate a track record of success leading the finance and procurement functions in a large, complex and decentralised organisation will thrive here. Prior NFP sector experience and familiarity with the unique nuances of a faith-based agency will be highly advantageous.

Your career displays a proven history of developing and implementing successful financial management strategies that enhance operational effectiveness and empower functional teams to own their budgets and performance. Leveraging your advanced commercial acumen, you will provide the Executive team with recommendations on capital investment strategies and funding allocation options. As a leader, you will set an example and drive cultural change to unify the distinct business units into a cohesive team that is valued for the quality and timeliness of their financial advice and insights.
