Culture functions and the wider department, responsible for the development and implementation of a Workforce Strategy that focuses on the Department having the right people, in the right place and the right time, and a Workforce Plan that enables this. WIS drives strategy and framework development for People &
Culture programs, initiatives and models that promote an integrated P&
C service delivery modelto meet the needs of the department.

Job description:
About the Role

This is a five year fixed term SES 1 role

The Director, Workforce Insights &
Strategy will be responsible for leading the Workforce Insights &
Strategy Branch. This pivotal position is crucial in aligning workforce capabilities, ensuring that the Department meets current and future demands efficiently and effectively within a strategic context.

In this role, you will lead the development and implementation of a Workforce Strategy and Plan, ensuring that the Department has the right people in the right place at the right time. Your expertise will be essential in aligning strategic frameworks and models.

Additionally, you will focus on forecasting and delivering actionable workforce insights that inform strategic decision-making and drive people investments, enhancing both strategic and tactical functions. You will be an exemplary stakeholder manager, who thinks strategically and translates strategic plans into operational actions, being creative and pragmatic at the same time.

Position Outcomes

Our ideal candidate is analytical, knowledgeable of market trends, and data-driven, capable of extracting insights from data to inform good business decisions and adept at understanding workforce issues and advising on solutions that align with our strategic goals.

Furthermore, you will create and deliver an employee value proposition that maximises the Department's unique value, providing workforce insights that are accessible and relevant to enable leaders in strategic decision-making.

The Director will lead and manage a high-performing team that delivers strategic advice on continuous improvement activities across all workforce initiatives. This involves aligning the workforce strategy with the overall business goals and objectives of the organisation, identifying critical roles and skills needed for business success, and forecasting future workforce requirements based on business goals and industry trends.

By providing actionable workforce insights and leading strategic initiatives, the Director will ensure the Department is well-prepared to meet its current and future workforce demands.
