ABOUT THE BRANCH/SECTION
The Strategic Procurement Branch (SPB) is responsible for the procurement, refresh and retender of non-ICT Whole of Australian Government (WoAG) coordinated procurement arrangements. These WoAG arrangements are established for commonly used goods or services by the Commonwealth.
In addition, SPB undertakes procurement processes for WoAG arrangements managed by other business areas in Finance. SPB collaborates closely with entities and industry to deliver competitive, fit for purpose and value for money procurement outcomes for the Commonwealth.
The Strategic Procurement Team is responsible for retendering and refresh procurement activities for the following WoAG arrangements:
Management Advisory Services Panel (MAS);
Master Media Agency (MMA) Services;
and Stationery and Office Supplies. Support is also provided to other projects within the SPB, as well as stakeholders and external entities.

As a Strategic Procurement Director, you will be responsible for:

  • leading a small team of about 10 staff to deliver strategic WoAG tendering and contracting arrangements;
  • managing consultants, such as probity and legal advisors;
  • representing Finance at meetings with external stakeholders;
  • working proactively and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, including from other government entities and industry;
  • leading complexnegotiations;
  • developing high-level briefing materials for the Department's Senior Executive, the Finance Minister and Government;
    and
  • transitioning procurement arrangements to a contract management team.
