Our early childhood services are community focused and well established. Since the 1970s, Council has had a strong and unique involvement in services for children and families. Council runs high quality services including four Early Education Centres, a Family Day Care Service, and a Family Support Program.

Waverley Council is currently looking for an exceptional Director who is experienced, professional and friendly to lead our Waverley Early Education Centre. The position will involve:

  • Leadership with a passion to mentor and support a collaborative team to deliver a high-quality innovative early education and care program for children 0-5 years.
  • Manage centre performance and enrolments to actively attract and retain families and children, with the ability to build strong relationships.
  • Advocate for the rights of children to support inclusive practices and diversity.
  • Lead compliance and implementation of regulatory requirements and to review and follow policies and procedures, including having an excellent understanding of child protection guidelines and child safe standards.
  • Communication skills that support building relationships with children, families, community, and positive performance and professional outcomes of team members.
  • Demonstrated familiarity and strong commitment to the National Quality Framework and Early Years Learning Framework, to lead continuous improvement.

The ideal applicant will be a dedicated professional, who is enthusiastic and reliable, willing to learn and grow in a well-supported environment.

You will have:

  • Degree in Early Childhood as approved by the NSW Department of Education.
  • Demonstrated Early Childhood Director and Teaching experience, 3 years minimum.
  • Management skills including leadership, team building and team development.
  • Excellent knowledge of federal and state regulations, guidelines and policies relating to Early Education and Care.
  • Eligibility and willingness to apply for Nominated Supervisor, in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • NSW Working with Children Check, and Police Check.
  • Current First Aid, CPR and Child Protection qualification.
  • Two doses of approved COVID-19 vaccination, with the willingness to comply with additional health requirements (including booster vaccination)
