About the Role

As the Rehabilitation Registrar you will provide day to day clinical management of Neurological Rehabilitation patients under the care and direction of the Director of Rehabilitation Services and Rehabilitation Consultants at St Vincent's Hospital. Responsibilities include clinical management of rehabilitation inpatients and participation in inpatient rehabilitation assessments.


Responsibilities include:


Clinical management of rehabilitation inpatients

  • Supervision of Interns
  • Assessment of patients referred for rehabilitation
  • Management of rehabilitation inpatients including Stroke, ABI and general neurological patients
  • Participation in in-service training program for the rehabilitation team
  • Participation in undergraduate medical teaching
  • Involvement in research and quality programs being undertaken by the rehabilitation service
  • Participation in Saturday and Sunday morning Rehab and GEM ward cover (approx. 1 in 6).

Participation in Rehabilitation Outpatient Services (non-mandatory)

  • Spasticity Management clinic
  • Young Adults with complex disability clinics
  • Polio Services Victoria clinic

Education Programme

  • Weekly sessions with supervisors
  • Weekly AFRM registrar tutorials
  • Fortnightly St Vincent's Hospital Rehabilitation in-service programme
  • Weekly SVHM medical grand rounds and numerous other medical and surgical forums
  • Opportunity to attend numerous clinical meetings at both St Georges and St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne.

Classifications for this position will range from HM25 - HM30($125,900.84 - $173,290.00 per annum).

Your Contribution

  • MBBS or Equivalent
  • Undertaking training in Rehabilitation Medicine
  • Unrestricted General AHPRA registration
  • Valid National criminal history check

About Rehabilitation

The Fitzroy Rehabilitation ward is co-located with Acute Services. The ward has 25 beds divided between Neurological and Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation teams. Each team is staffed by 1 Consultant, 1 Registrar and 1 intern. The Amputee, Young Adults with Complex Disability Clinic, High Risk Foot Clinic and High Risk Foot Clinic are based at the Fitzroy .
