U has partnered with theDepartment of Environment and Science to find an exceptional candidate for the position of Director, Cyber and Architecture Services. As the Director, you will drive the enhancement and development of cutting-edge cyber security measures and enterprise architecture practices within DESI. Leading a skilled and dedicated internal team, you will inspire them to achieve excellence, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration. Reporting directly to the Chief Digital Officer (CDO), this critical leadership role is essential for safeguarding the digital infrastructure and boosting the organisation's digital capabilities. The ideal candidate will be proficient in both strategic thinking and hands-on execution to ensure the successful attainment of DESI's strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, advocate and oversee the implementation of a Cyber Security Framework and Roadmap aligned with the Digital Strategy, Data Strategy and business digital plans. Regularly update executive leadership on cyber and information security policies, processes and compliance status;
  • Lead, manage and coordinate continuous threat assessments to pinpoint key risks, implementing treatment plans to mitigate information security incidents and protect the department's IT assets, intellectual property, regulated data and reputation;
  • Build and maintain relationships with partners, vendors and policy centres to stay abreast of the latest cyber threat landscape and ensure best practice enterprise architecture, including adherence to Queensland Government Enterprise Architecture (QGEA) industry standards, best practices and compliance requirements;
  • Lead the enterprise architecture practice within the agency, including governance, promoting the creation, review and updating of relevant artefacts and supporting the availability of contemporary digital capabilities to meet business strategy within the context of the whole of Government strategy;
  • Develop and implement strategies aimed at reducing technology risk and ensuring compliance with Queensland Government policies and regulatory standards;
  • Provide insightful advice on innovation and investment opportunities to enhance the agency's digital assets and capabilities;
  • Manage the cultural transition required to adopt a whole of department approach to Cyber Security and enterprise architecture, enhancing "
    Business as usual"
    processes;
  • Lead and manageteam functions through effective human resource and financial management practices, including staff development through performance planning and review;
    and
  • Cultivate aworkplace culture that upholds and promotes the interests of First Nations people, actively engaging to contribute to better outcomes.
