About the University
Global Culture and Engagement (GCE) provides leadership across the University with overall responsibility for the University's service to and engagement with stakeholders, partners, government and community, both locally and globally.
GCE is comprised of the following teams:

  • Global (including Asialink and Australia India Institute)
  • Policy and Government Relations
  • Strategic Intelligence
  • Business Strategy and Projects
  • University Museums and Collections
  • University Performing Arts
  • Engagements, and Community and Cultural Partnerships.


Reporting directly to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Global, Culture &
Engagement), the
Chief of Staff, Global, Culture and Engagement is a key member of the Portfolio's leadership team and will manage the portfolio to ensure the timely and efficient execution of a range of international programs;
provide strategic oversight to and ensure support for the Committees, Advisory Groups and Working Groups led by the DVC - GCE;
contribute to the strategic direction, operational coordination, effective operations of the portfolio;
and shaping and building portfolio resources and talent.

You will be a central point of liaison between Chancellery Global, Culture &
Engagement and the other Chancellery Portfolios and Faculties, ensuring effective coordination of projects that span the University
Responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring overall governance, daytoday management and ontime, onbudget execution of a range of Chancellery Global, Culture &
    Engagement workstreams
  • Leading development of innovative strategies to foster institutional, business and associated governmental relationships to enhance international education and partnership outcomes
  • Provide strategic advice for DVC GCE and Chancellery Global, Culture &
    Engagement Executive onchanging trends affecting international operations and priorities.
  • Foster a positive team culture that supports and inspires Chancellery Global, Culture &
    Engagement staff to high levels of achievement, improvement in delivery and job satisfaction

About You


You will be a sophisticated communicator, able to adapt to diverse audiences, also capable of bringing your leadership record of delivery within large and complex environments.

A problem-solver who thrives on organising others with an interest in international and global relations.
Ideally you will be able to demonstrate your prior record of delivery in relation to:

  • Exceptional leadership and management skills and the ability to foster a high-performance, service-oriented and results-oriented work environment for all staff in the portfolio
  • Excellent understanding of the higher education sector and established networks and relationships within the University and the external environment
  • Relevant qualifications and extensive operational leadership experience
  • International Relations / MBA or other related postgraduate studies.
  • Strong planning, strategic development, budgeting, problemsolving skills, and experience overseeing complex projects.
  • Leadership skills, including formal and informal authority, and excellent influencing skills.
