Company Size and Structure
Our client is a large organization with over 1000 employees across Australia. In their Urban division, the Estimating team consists of 23 members nationally. The Chief Estimator role will be part of a team of 8 Estimators in Victoria, which includes 1 Chief Estimator, 2 Senior Estimators, 3 Estimators, and 2 Graduate Estimators. The Chief Estimator will oversee the quality of tenders and the performance of the entire team.
Team Dynamics
The Estimating team is detail-oriented, competitive, and enthusiastic about tackling exciting projects. The Chief Estimator will play a critical role in mentoring and developing the junior team members while actively contributing to the success of their tenders. This role will initially be hands-on with tenders, gradually shifting to a purely quality management role, similar to a Pre-Contract Manager in other organizations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage complex tenders up to $70M
- Oversee traditional first principles estimating, cost planning, and hard dollar tendering
- Manage quality of submission and team tenders
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and subcontractors
- Collaborate with the National Chief Estimating Manager on submission and price strategy

Proficiency in Expert, Candy, and Excel is imperative.
