The Chief data architect plays a vital role in delivering key elements of the Data Architecture Strategy and establishing and enhancing governance, technical and operational foundations to support the leveraging of data as a strategic asset.

Responsible for delivering the design, development, and implementation of a new data architecture, including the establishment of a data lake (or data lakes) and associated infrastructure, capability, and operating practices.

  • Provide leadership in establishing Data Architecture (specifically a data lake house) to host, describe, manage, and transform large volumes of data for integration, reporting and analysis purposes. This will involve coordinating work between external infrastructure delivery vendors, and data and digital specialists.
  • Identify and advocate for the required capabilities and practises to effectively maintain and operate working data architecture, including the articulation of relevant strategy, roles, and processes.
  • Provide strategic leadership on the implementation and operations of data architecture and provide technical leadership and guidance to data engineering and architecture teams.
  • Support in the establishment of robust data governance, integrity, security and compliance across the data architecture and the creation and maintenance of data models, metadata, and schemas within relevant platforms to support data management, data analysis, reporting, and visualisation.

Requirements:

  • Extensive leadership experience in establishing data architecture, including data lakes and related infrastructure, by aligning relevant architecture(s) and broader business operations and strategic goals.
  • Proficiency in data modelling, database design, and ETL processes and strong understanding of data governance principles and practices.
  • Demonstrated stakeholder engagement and collaboration experience, particularly with senior executive and leaders and Excellent leadership, engagement, and communication skills.
