WHAT YOU'LL DO

Reporting to the Career Development (CD) Senior Manager within Australia and New Zealand (ANZ), the primary focus of this role is to facilitate an exceptional career development program for our junior consulting cohorts. This includes upward and downward feedback management, ensuring effective Career Development Committee (CDC) meetings, facilitating career pathways, and execution of strategic CD projects as needed.
The CD Senior Specialist will also work closely with members of the Consulting Team (CT) and broader BCG HR team across ANZ, Asia Pacific (AP) and globally to deliver an excellent CD experience for the ANZ Consulting team.
YOU'RE GOOD AT
Lead the Career Development process for your respective Consulting cohorts including:

    • Build close working relationships with the CD Committee (CDC) Chairs and CD Advisors (CDAs), acting as trusted advisor and providing guidance on consistent and best practice
    • Manage development paths for your cohorts including industry secondments and study sponsorship
    • Undertake thorough preparation for your cohorts ahead of each CDC cycle, ensuring CDAs and Chairs are fully supported and prepared, and all relevant materials for your cohorts have been received in line with deadlines.
    • Take a leading role in your cohort's CDC meetings, partnering with Chairs and CDAs to ensure robust decision-making and best practice-aligned outcomes.
    • Post-CDC meeting:
  • Ensure all post-meeting materials and processes are completed against agreed timelines,
  • Collaborate with CDAs to ensure messaging to individuals is accurately and appropriately framed and provide support to post-CDC discussions where required, and
  • Liaise with Learning &
    Development, Staffing &
    Mobility, and other office counterparts, to action CDC recommendations
    • Own downward and upward feedback processes end to end, including approval processes, alignment to grading calibration principles, and make recommendations to improve feedback timeliness
    • Oversee CD Assistant's responsibilities as related to your cohorts, including:
      preparation of promotion letters, announcements, and gifts;
      and maintaining accurate records in Workday;
    • Conduct reporting and analytics as required, deriving insights, and making recommendations.

Lead annual Consulting Team year-end bonus process including:

    • Collaborate with the wider CD team to set the annual bonus calendar and schedule key meetings
    • Collect accurate inputs and develop materials for key meetings and final production of letters

Manage other CD-specific responsibilities including:

    • Take initiative on strategic career development projects;
      developing, documenting, and proposing new policies, approaches, and points of view;
      providing local insights to global projects, and related
    • Liaise with AP region on key issues and participate in regional CDC forums as relevant
    • Facilitate a range of training sessions throughout the year (e.G., CDA onboarding, new starter training on CD processes, and related)
    • Monitor annual CD budget, including spending and ad-hoc budget analysis
    • Offer Career Services support to your cohorts in collaboration with the CD Senior Manager
    • Maintain CD Microsite, keeping content, metrics and key materials up-to-date
    • Oversee CDA/Advisee pairings, reassignments, and related communications

YOU BRING (EXPERIENCE &
QUALIFICATIONS)

  • Several years of HR/People experience
  • Experience with performance management strongly preferred, either in a professional services firm or similarly fast-paced and complex environment
  • Strong skills in the Microsoft Office suite (particularly Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Experience in database maintenance, analytics and deriving insights from data
  • Strong HR knowledge and related processes - specific experience with Workday highly regarded
  • Proactive self-starter, comfortable dealing with ambiguity, who takes initiative and thinks beyond the task to the outcome we want to achieve and any resulting precedents
  • A genuine passion for championing development and growth;
    you display a strong sense of care for the individual
  • Strong communication skills:
    clarity, tact, professionalism, and consensus building - in verbal and written communications;
    comfortable presenting in a clear and engaging manner to larger audiences
  • High degree of self-responsibility, comfortable taking ownership of major end-to-end processes and events, escalating where required, and prioritising accordingly, with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to investigate information from a variety of sources;
    to analyse, interpret, and summarise data gathered, and to prepare presentation results
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills, comfortable engaging with internal stakeholders across all levels of the organisation
  • Business and service orientation, flexible, collaborative and highly communicative team player
