About the role


We are delighted to announce that we are inviting applications for the role of Vice President - Risk &
Assurance. This role will support the Chief People &
Corporate Services Officer, in the development and execution of Orica's global risk management program while ensuring the integrity of our operations.

In this highly visible and critical role, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of Orica's global risk management and assurance processes to safeguard our assets, people and reputation. This role will have a strong interaction with the Executive Committee, CEO, Board of Directors and constant interface with our global regions and business functions.

To be successful in this role, you will bring a background in global risk or internal audit leadership roles, a passion for problem solving and strong commercial, numeracy and execution skills. What you will be doing

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive global risk management program that covers strategic, operational, financial, and reputational risks.
  • Establish and monitor key risk indicators and risk appetite metrics, and report on risk exposures and mitigation actions.
  • Communicate strategic/emerging risks and opportunities effectively to the Board and Audit &
    Risk Committee (BARC) Executive Committee and CEO.
  • Maintain effective internal control systems to safeguard assets, ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Oversee the internal audit function, including planning and executing audit programs, reviewing findings, and recommending corrective actions.
  • Oversight of the Group insurance program including captive.
  • Manage and develop a team of risk and audit professionals and provide coaching, mentoring and a future talent pipeline for the organisation.

What you will bring

  • Role ideally suited to individuals with a minimum of (15) years' experience in a similar global risk management, internal audit or assurance leadership role.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in finance, commerce, engineering or similar (post-graduate qualification or MBA highly regarded).
  • Strong knowledge of risk management frameworks, standards, and best practices.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, and the ability to influence and collaborate with senior stakeholders.
  • Commercial acumen and a business partnering mindset to risk management.
  • Agility to thrive in a changing and growing global business.
  • Demonstrated leadership, management, and coaching skills, and the ability to lead and motivate a high-performing team.
