How this position will Make the Difference to City of Melbourne We have a fantastic opportunity for an accomplished Transport (Traffic) Engineering leader to join our Transport Engineering team within the City Infrastructure branch. The Transport Engineering unit is comprised of three teams and divided geographically. Reporting into the Manager Transport Engineering, you will be responsible for leading one of the teams with seven direct reports. As the Team Leader Transport Engineering you will assist in further developing a team culture focused on inclusive design for all road users and collaborate with the internal and external stakeholders to deliver an inclusive and progressive approach to transport engineering. This role would suit an individual who is a highly skilled and tertiary qualified leader with extensive knowledge and experience across the public and or private sector in transport management, traffic engineering, active transport, road safety, vulnerable road users and kerbside (parking) management. You will have a track record of leading high performing teams, being a collaborative and engaging leader with exceptional communication and influencing skills. Operating in a busy environment, the role has a high level interface with internal and external stakeholders and builds strong and collaborative relationships with trust and credibility. To be successful in this role, you must share our values in enhancing and delivering outstanding customer-service and efficiency. What you will bring

  • Tertiary qualification, significant experience and proven achievement in the provision of traffic and transport engineering services and hold or be eligible for Registered Professional Civil Engineer qualifications in Victoria
  • Minimum of 8-10 years' experience in transport and traffic engineering and knowledge of the legal and regulatory framework applicable to the position
  • A record of achievement and innovation in people management and leadership in a dynamic and political environment, and creating an environment focussed on staff engagement, accountability and decision making
  • Highly developed analytical and lateral thinking skills and the ability to take the initiative, drive changes and implement innovations
  • High level contract and project management skills with the ability to scope and manage activities for transport engineering services that are of high quality, timely and meet budget
