About the team
The Public Works and Permits team at Glen Eira City Council ensures high-quality service delivery by inspecting construction work, issuing non-conformance and rectification notices to developers, and ensuring compliance with approved designs. They work autonomously within guidelines and legislative constraints to maintain public infrastructure safety and protect council assets during construction. This includes issuing relevant permits and ensuring compliance to safeguard road-related and drainage assets during commercial or residential development.

About the role
Our Team Leader Public Works and Permits plays a critical role in maintaining the integrity of Glen Eira City Council's infrastructure and ensuring that development projects align with council standards. This position oversees the day-to-day activities of the team, guaranteeing that all tasks are executed efficiently and with a focus on delivering exceptional service.

Other responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Ensuring Council's required public works constructed by developers, utilities and other authorities are supervised and completed to Council Standards and satisfaction.
  • Ensuring Council assets are enhanced, protected and reinstated after completion of developers and utility works.
  • Asset Consent, Asset Protection and Vehicle Crossing Permits

About you
We are seeking a proactive and motivated leader well-versed in Public Works Construction programs, with experience in contract and project management. You will maintain effective ongoing relationships with internal departments and external stakeholders to achieve continuous improvements and resolve issues effectively.

The following is also required:

  • A Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Eligibility for Membership of the Institute of Engineers.
  • Experience in Public Works Construction, and Project Management with an emphasis on construction relating to managing contract, OH&
    S and construction supervision of Municipal Infrastructure projects including buildings and facilities.
  • Well-developed computer skills relevant to Civil Engineering &
    Public Works, especially using Microsoft Windows Applications, CAD and Project Management Software.
  • Knowledge in legal and technical framework related to issuing and processing of infrastructure construction related permits.
  • Victorian Car Driver's License.
