Tax Director

Your role
Do you have a tax background in financial services - either in-house, with a law firm or a chartered accounting firm? Do you have a knack for breaking down complex issues to reach practical, clear and concise conclusions? Want to be part of newly merged and exciting organization? We're looking for someone with tax expertise to help us:
- provide tax advice to the business divisions on complex transactions and new business;
- provide tax advice on international issues - including transfer pricing and permanent establishment;
- be involved in tax governance for the Australia &
New Zealand Group;
- assist with FBT and GST queries from the business divisions and group functions as applicable (you do not need to be a FBT and GST expert, but should be willing to learn and advise on FBT and GST issues as and when they arise);
- interact effectively with Senior Management, the Business and Group Finance;
- liaise with the ATO and other Revenue Authorities, as and when required;
- monitor tax reform issues impacting UBS in Australia &
New Zealand, and represent the interests of UBS at industry forums;
- work effectively with external advisors, including one of the Big 4 which undertakes the tax compliance services for the Group in Australia &
New Zealand;
- review tax effect accounting calculations and tax workpapers for the Australia group (prepared by either Finance or the Big 4 under the outsource arrangement);
- assist with preparation, and review, of the Australia &
New Zealand Group's income tax returns;
- review the annualtransfer pricing documentation for the Australian taxation groups;
and
- review of theAustralia annual local files under country by country reporting rules
Your team
You will be part of a truly global tax team, and work closely with your tax colleagues across APAC. You will be based in Sydney, reporting to the Head of Tax Australia &
New Zealand. You will also work closely with the Australian CFO and Regional Head of Tax APAC. We are a team of highly skilled and effective tax subject matter experts that deliver to the tax needs of the business divisions and group functions. As tax legislation is constantly changing, we stay at the forefront of those developments to ensure we provide appropriate tax guidance that takes account of those developments and responsible for a sustainable control environment.
Your expertise
- qualified accountant and/or legal qualifications;
- minimum 10 years'experience post qualification ;
- knowledge of financial services gained at a blue chip financial services organization, one of the top tier law firms or one of the Big Four accountancy firms.
- have strong tax technical skills and knowledge;
- have strong analytical skills and attention to detail;
- be a lateral thinker and have ability to implement common sense practical solutions;
- be able to remediate existing issues and recommend and implement new processes;
- have good stakeholder engagement;
and
- be an excellent communicator with strong presentation skills, both oral and written. You must be able to express opinions clearly and firmly.
