About the role:

We have an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic team leading our approach to the provision of quality care to clients of the Department/Service. Manager to include relevant details about the role and or service.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provision of specialist care to patients at the Parklea Correction Complex, the provision of Hepatitis services, testing and management of at risk patients for the early detection and treatment of blood borne viruses including Hepatitis B, C and HIV and sexually transmissible infections.
  • Development of best practice protocols and procedures for prevention of, and therapy for infections
  • Responsibility for Infectious Diseases consultations and conjoint care
  • Referral and liaison with key treatment providers (including GP's) and active participation in a multidisciplinary setting;
  • Participation in teaching and research duties;
  • Promotion of good patient care and the good reputation of the department.
  • Participation in out-of-hours services for Correctional Health Service.
  • Provide clinical leadership and support to the Correctional Health service clinicians in the management of their client's infectious disease health needs;
  • Maximise patient participation in decision making and choices in the care planning process;
  • Maintain positive liaison with families, carers and community providers including General Practitioners, community agencies and non-Government organisations;

Selection Criteria:

  • Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent's Health Australia.
  • Possession of Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in Infectious Diseases or its equivalent;
  • Possession, or eligibility for, specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia of the Australian Health Professionals Regulation Agency;
  • Demonstrated knowledge, skills and high standards of clinical practice in Infectious Diseases with knowledge and experience in the management of complex infectious disorders;
  • Demonstrated expertise in antimicrobial therapeutic drug monitoring and antimicrobial stewardship;
  • Demonstrated commitment to teaching at specialty registrar, junior medical officer and undergraduate levels;
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management;
  • Demonstrated commitment to pursuit of clinical research in relevant areas;
