Our client is seeking a highly skilled Solution Architect to join their team. This full-time role, starting in June 2024, offers an initial contract of six months with the possibility of a six-month extension. A part-time opportunity (0.5 FTE) is also available, commencing at the same time for a six-month period with a potential four-month extension. The successful candidate will be instrumental in designing and developing architecture frameworks that integrate OT data sources from heavy industry mobile equipment, fixed assets and simulation rigs using modern technologies and protocols.

What you'll do:

As a Solution Architect, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our client's technology landscape. You will be responsible for designing and developing architecture frameworks that seamlessly integrate OT data sources from various industrial assets. Your expertise will be crucial in developing strategies for efficient data acquisition, storage, processing, and analysis. Collaborating with diverse teams of engineers, data scientists, and business stakeholders, you will ensure that all data solutions are tailored to support both analytical and operational use cases. Staying abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends will be key to your success in this role.

  • Develop strategies for data acquisition, storage, processing, and analysis of time-series data from various mining and rail equipment.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and business stakeholders to ensure that data solutions support analytical and operational use cases.
  • Evaluate data logging software and hardware for fitment and commercial viability.
  • Provide guidance on best practices for data governance, security, and compliance in the context of OT data integration.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends related to OT systems, IoT, data analytics, and integration platforms.
  • Work closely with Technology SMEs across the business to ensure architecture design aligns with wider business objectives.


What you bring:

The ideal Solution Architect brings a wealth of experience and a strong educational background in Engineering or a related field. With at least five years of experience in solution architecture, you have honed your skills in data integration within industrial or operational technology environments. Your understanding of MQTT, Sparkplug B, and other relevant OT data communication protocols is robust. You are familiar with time-series databases, data streaming, and big data technologies. Your proficiency in designing secure and scalable data architectures is matched by your deep understanding of AWS, Azure data platforms and Snowflake. Your excellent analytical problem-solving skills and technical leadership abilities will be key to your success in this role.

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in solution architecture focusing on data and integration in industrial or operational technology environments.
  • Strong understanding of MQTT, Sparkplug B, and other protocols relevant to OT data communication.
  • Experience with time-series databases, data streaming, and big data technologies.
  • Deep understanding of AWS, Azure data platforms and Snowflake.
