About the Role (your why)
In this role, you'll play a pivotal role in the presales and project delivery of end user focused solutions in Datacom's Intelligent Workspace line of business. The focus will be on business outcomes that can be realised by scoping end user projects which transform and mature our customers IT environments and improve the overall end user experience.
As a member of the presales team, you will be a point of escalation and provide mentoring and coaching to other architects and engineers.
Our offices are based in Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney - We like to bring people together in person when we can, but we are mindful of the benefits of working from home for work/ life balance. Please note that to be successful in this role, you must be an Australian Citizen and be able to achieve a Baseline or NV1 security clearance.
What you'll do
Overall your responsibilities will cover:
Intelligent Workspace (End User Services) Presales Pipeline Opportunities:

  • Provide presales support to the sales and account management teams by leading presales workshops with customers to guide them through Intelligent Workspace solutions, whilst extracting their requirements and understanding their problem statements
  • Assist customer and Datacom teams with reviewing and completing Statement of Requirements (SOR) documents.
  • Produce Statements of Work (SOW) documents, in conjunction with pricing estimators, for the purposes of project engagements for both managed services and professional services for Datacom customers
  • Produce Proposal documents for customers who require solutions and products options as part of their evaluation process.
  • Produce Rough Order of Magnitude documents for the purposes of customer budgeting
  • Communication to our customer base on new and emerging technologies and the applicability of such technologies in their business
  • Lead internal project kick-off's on the SOW's you author to project teams
  • Undertake quality assurance documentation peer reviews on colleagues' documentation

Managed Services Renewals:

  • Identify and resolve gaps between old managed services contracts and our new managed service schedules (amended/evolved time to time) to ensure consistency in delivery and pricing across customer base
  • Provide the technical and commercial inputs from an Intelligent Workspace line of business perspective into the renewal team
  • Requirements are adequate, understood and agreed with technical engineers prior to commencement of deployment activities
  • Contribute to defining scope and accurate effort estimates in Statement of Works for non-standard implementations
  • Desire to maintain and develop understanding of technological developments
  • Work as part of a bid team to lead the Intelligent workspace solutioning, compliance and pricing components for large multi-service line bids (RFI/RFT/RFQ)
  • Coordinate appropriate responses and pricing to bid requirements through the Intelligent Workspace service line managers (M365, End User, Endpoint Engineering and Mobility)
  • Where requested, engage with the customer to present on Datacom's Intelligent Workspace services capabilities
  • Develop, maintain and execute initiatives in alignment with a personal development plan
  • Attain and/or maintain relevant industry or professional certification
  • Maintain an intimate knowledge of the Microsoft 365 suites and Identity (Security, Intune, O365, AVD/W365, AAD)
  • Help identify future business opportunities or services and possible revenue streams
  • Provide constructive feedback on the development needs of the team
  • Present at internal programs to improve team knowledge (e.G. Lunch and Learn sessions)
  • Identify gaps or inconsistencies in Datacom's presales processes when encountered and formulate remedial recommendations
  • Proactive open and honest communications at all levels and remain accountable for personal performance
  • Develop effective working relationships with other Datacom employees to ensure the best company outcome
  • Take ownership of all tasks which are assigned to and drive them through to completion
  • Ensure quality is not compromised by highlighting blockers to management and managing time expectations with stakeholders
  • Contribute to, and present on Datacom Intelligent Workspace Go-To-Market strategies and content
  • Accurate and timely completion of time sheeting for daily activities
  • Communication of opportunities for improvement of delivery of our services
  • Communication of opportunities for improvement of services to our customers
  • Generate, share relevant knowledge, experience and ideas with team members with the aim of building team competence

  • Coordinate appropriate responses and pricing to bid requirements through the Intelligent Workspace service line managers (M365, End User, Endpoint Engineering and Mobility)
  • Where requested, engage with the customer to present on Datacom's Intelligent Workspace services capabilities

Personal Training and Development:

  • Develop, maintain and execute initiatives in alignment with a personal development plan
  • Attain and/or maintain relevant industry or professional certification
  • Maintain an intimate knowledge of the Microsoft 365 suites and Identity (Security, Intune, O365, AVD/W365, AAD)
  • Help identify future business opportunities or services and possible revenue streams
  • Provide constructive feedback on the development needs of the team
  • Present at internal programs to improve team knowledge (e.G. Lunch and Learn sessions)

Vendor Engagement:

  • Work with partners and vendors to build strong relationships to facilitate timely resolution of product issues and support
  • Identify opportunities for rebates, incentives, etc from vendors and work with various teams to exploit such opportunities
  • Negotiate with vendors to ensure we buy at the best possible price point

General Expectations:

  • Identify gaps or inconsistencies in Datacom's presales processes when encountered and formulate remedial recommendations
  • Proactive open and honest communications at all levels and remain accountable for personal performance
  • Develop effective working relationships with other Datacom employees to ensure the best company outcome
  • Take ownership of all tasks which are assigned to and drive them through to completion

What you'll bring
We are looking for a seasoned Solution Architect with extensive experience working in complex enterprise scale environments. You have a strong understanding of Modern Workplace IT Architecture in order to really own technical presales conversations.
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain positive productive relationships. You will have a consultative approach the ability to influence senior management and project leaders.
We are looking for people with the following skills/experience:

  • Advanced understanding of Fixed Price vs Time and Materials SOW's (and when to choose one over the other)
  • Advanced understanding of pricing project and managed services engagements Advanced understanding of 'on-premises to cloud' and 'cloud to cloud' migration paths
  • Excellent communication skills and problem solving abilities
  • Experience in creating accurate, concise and comprehensive presales documentation

Extensive knowledge of the following technologies:
