Senior Software Engineer Sydney

Flagship is a Sydney-based start-up pioneering the development of innovative retail solutions around the world. Our visual merchandising platform optimises the placement of products across a retailer's store network, creating efficiencies and providing access to previously unavailable data.

We've seen amazing traction with our platform in Australia and will embark on our expansion into the northern hemisphere this year.

About the role

We are looking to recruit an experienced and talented Senior Software Engineer to join our engineering team of 4 (soon to be 5) and help shape the future technical direction of our rapidly expanding product. We're a nimble team who are here to make a big impact in the retail space, and that impact is powered by our technology. As one of the early engineers, you'll have the opportunity to not only grow with the business but have a big say in how we go about achieving our goals.

Your mission

Be the driving force behind awesome software solutions and own the end-to-end process around doing so. Ideate technical solutions, research, implement, and support them as our users continue to use them. You've got experience doing this already so we want to empower you to do it as best you can

Collaborate with our growing engineering team and support other engineers. Your role goes beyond just coding - it includes educating others, reviewing PRs, code sparring, and pair programming. We hold all our engineers to a high standard and expect that they'd do the same for you

Join forces with our product and design team to translate designs and feature requirements into effective technical solutions

5+ years of experience building front-end and/or back-end web solutions. You're not just familiar with but also excel in technologies like Typescript, Node.Js, NestJS, React, Next.Js, GraphQL, and relational databases (SQL ORMs)

2+ years experience in AWS (or another cloud platform)

You've got a track record of delivering complex end-to-end software solutions

You know there's a trade-off between speed and precision and being able to balance the needle is part of the job. We're here to build products our customers love.

You take pride in delivering high-quality code because you've lived the benefits of doing so.

Strong communication skills in order to present, articulate and justify technical solutions to internal and external teams.
