What you'll do

Join our innovative and fast-paced startup as a Senior Software Engineer in our Data team, where you'll play a pivotal role in shaping and enhancing our evolving Data Platform to meet the demands of both our business stakeholders and customers. Leveraging your robust engineering background, you'll help design and build data capabilities to meet the needs of our customers and business. We know there's a lot that goes into this pivotal position, including the following;

  • Contributeto the development of EQL's Data Platform by designing and implementing resilient capabilities aligned with the needs of our products and business using technology such as AWS, Snowflake, and DBT, among others.
  • Apply a software engineering mindset to tackle data challenges, using your capability in software engineering applied to the context of building data platforms/products.
  • Contribute to and guide architectural decisions, ensuring consideration of system resilience and offering flexibility to adapt and grow in response to evolving requirements while meeting current needs.
  • Communicate complex ideas verbally and in writing, using design documentation, architecture diagrams, and other tools to foster discussion and iteration. Embrace diverse perspectives and factor these into solutions implemented.
  • Collaborate with product teams and Engineering leaders to understand their objectives to inform the design and implementation of solutions.
  • Oversee data platform services' availability, performance, security, and incident management.
  • Mentor and coach team members to improve problem-solving skills, broaden their knowledge and foster personal growth.
  • Collaborate with engineering leaders to promote robust engineering practices and ways of working across teams and cultivate a strong data culture.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in the data engineering community, actively sharing knowledge within the organisation.

  • Proficiency in software engineering principles and best practices, with experience designing and building scalable, maintainable software systems and an ability to use modern tools and technologies to solve problems.
  • Experience building reliable and scalable applications in the cloud and have a solid knowledge of computer science, data structures, algorithms and software design.
  • Solid understanding of data engineering concepts, including data modelling, ETL processes, data warehousing, and data pipelines.
  • Experience working in fast-paced technology environments, with the ability to thrive in a dynamic and rapidly changing landscape. This includes being comfortable with ambiguity, quickly adapting to new priorities, and executing initiatives with speed and agility.
  • Proficiency in managing relationships with various stakeholders, including customer-facing teams, product teams, and business users. Effective collaboration skills to work closely with stakeholders in co-creating solutions, understanding their needs, and communicating technical concepts clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to mentor and coach team members, fostering their professional development and growth.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey complex ideas to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
