We are looking for an organized self-starter to join the Transportation Risk and Compliance (TRC) team at Amazon. This position will be based out of the Sydney office, and requires the ability to travel occasionally.
Amazon has built world-class transportation operations, which rely on an exceptional pool of carrier partners who work relentlessly to meet our customers’ expectations. TRC partners with transportation business to provide them with risk intelligence and compliance monitoring services, fine-tuned at the Australian and transportation program level. With this in mind, TRC is looking for a high-judgment individual to join us as a Senior Audit &
Compliance Manager to assess Amazon carrier partners’ compliance against contractual and legal requirements, and drive a compliance culture both internally and externally.
In this role, you will work closely with Amazon’s Last Mile transportation businesses to build strategic initiatives and frameworks that support carrier partners in meeting legal and contractual obligations relating to business practices, and driver / provider eligibility, and key regulations. You will be expected to understand laws and regulations applicable to the Last Mile business, assess effectiveness of existing risk and controls, and propose innovative mitigation strategies that enable business success. You must clearly and concisely communicate identified findings to senior leadership, managing the governance process to manage the findings, as well as partner with cross-functional teams to manage the resultant risks. You will set program objectives, align with global metrics to measure success, and drive business changes that reduce risk. You will work collaboratively with business stakeholders, safety, legal, tech, and field operations teams to implement world-class, customer-centric, compliance and risk management solutions.
You will work in a scale-up environment with significant ambiguity and change. The ideal candidate will be able to rapidly adapt and change as each transport program evolves, and provide the business advice with practical, realistic, and measured advice, which they can actually implement.
Key job responsibilities
- Build a trusted adviser relationship with key stakeholders in the business and other supporting functions (e.G. Legal, Public Policy, etc).
- Be able to form a comprehensive view of a situation and/or regulatory requirements, from angles including PR, political, legal, etc, in addition to risk and compliance, to ensure that our plans, and advice, are well considered, practical, realistic and implemental, as well as mutually exclusive and collectively exhaustive (MECE).
- Create, scope, track, and execute ad hoc projects.
- Own definition and execution of strategy for Australia and Singapore.
- Define annual work plans in alignment with global direction.
- Accountable for end-to-end management and execution of compliance audit programs. This includes ensuring timely execution at quality, improving productivity, management of findings with business stakeholders and auditees, local and global reporting, and problem solving.
- Ownership of a formal governance process to address compliance findings. This includes owning and chairing a governance board to seek formal decisions with business leaders, Legal, and other stakeholders on findings, and ensuring that they are executed.
- Manage off-shore audits. This includes development and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), projecting resource requirements, and coordinating with offshore leadership to ensure timely, complete, and accurate execution of audits.
- End-to-end ownership of risk assessments, to identify risk exposure in Amazon’s transport programs. This includes tracking of committed management action plans, as well as analysis to determine if risks impact our auditing coverage and strategy for that program, and adjust accordingly.
- Deep dive into regulatory requirements in relevant fields, and relevant case studies, to (a) understand their requirements, (b) how they impact TRC’s work, and (c) to communicate their impact and importance to business partners.
- Own projects to implement initiatives to increase audit efficiency by offshoring of work, and through automation.
- Own required reporting and ensure all metrics are tracked and reported to regional and global teams
- Embed within new transport programs as they are being built, to create compliance audit programs, and provide risk, compliance, and controls advice.
- Own an investigations function, and lead fieldwork when issues are escalated to TRC.
