The purpose of the TasWater Capital Delivery Office (CDO) is to ensure cost-effective and timely delivery of quality capital works projects for TasWater that will meet the needs of TasWater's business, their stakeholders and the communities of Tasmania for years to come. The TasWater CDO manages the TasWater Capital Works Program from inception to completion including the planning, design, procurement, and delivery phases.

We are proud of our great team here at TasWater (CDO) and are on the lookout for an experienced Senior Project Engineer who will contribute to the development and delivery of our current long term TasWater CDO projects. Our projects are based across the state of Tasmania, some including the Selfs Point Sewer Transition Project, Tamar Estuary River Health Action Plan Project (TERHAP), Bicheno Recycled Water Scheme, Regional Towns Water Supply Project, Smithton Sewage Pump Station Upgrade &
Pet Dam Safety Upgrade.

This exciting role is for the Selfs Point Sewer Transition Project and would be based out of Hobart, Tasmania. Should you need to relocate to Tasmania to take up the opportunity with us, relocation assistance is available.

About the project:

As part of TasWater's commitment to investing in new and improved sewerage infrastructure to cater for Hobart's future growth, they are delivering one of their most significant projects to date.

This project combines the following 4 separate, but interconnected projects:

  • Selfs Point Sewage Treatment Plant upgrade, near New Town Bay
  • Macquarie Point to Selfs Point pipeline
  • New Macquarie Point Sewage Pump Station;
    and
  • Decommissioning of the existing Macquarie Point Sewage Treatment Plant.

The expansion and upgrading of the existing plant, combined with the future decommissioning of the Macquarie Point Sewage Treatment Plant, will deliver improved environmental outcomes and the new state-of-the-art facilities and treatment technologies will enable us to treat up to 24.9 megalitres of Hobart's wastewater per day.

About the role:

  • The Senior Project Engineer is responsible for providing engineering and coordination for the design, supply, installation and testing of TasWater Capital Delivery Office Projects. The primary challenge of this position is to ensure the projects are completed in a timely and cost-effective manner to meet contractual arrangements made with the client
  • Assist the Project Manager with compliance to the documentation required under the
  • CDO/UGL Management System
  • Review and plan the projects with the Team Lead / Project Engineer to ensure technical aspects of the job are clear and to become familiar with contractual arrangements made with the client.
  • Liaise with Project Engineer / Project Supervisor to ensure the job is on schedule.
  • Provide a focal point for all technical based queries for associated subcontractors/suppliers
  • Develop scope of works required for RFT (Request for Tender) and RFQ (Request for Quote) documentation insuring documents include all necessary technical specification and references.
  • Prepare and management of procurement packages including design, supply and installation lump sum and schedule of rates.
  • Coordinate with designer and suppliers in the development of design solutions.
  • Overviews the entire project (within disciplines) from an engineering viewpoint while maintaining an open approach to all problems.
