About the role

In this role, you will be responsible for driving development, implementation, and ongoing improvement of Process Safety &
Risk Management across the business including compliance with regulatory requirements relating to Major Hazard Facilities.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead implementation of Ampol's Operational Risk Management System, ensuring process safety risks are proactively identified and controlled
  • Own and maintain facility bowtie diagrams and critical control performance standards
  • Own and maintain elements of facility Major Hazard Facilities (MHF) safety cases
  • Provide technical advice to Engineering Project teams, along with technical review and approval of process safety &
    risk deliverables
  • Provide specific and detailed engineering support to the wider business as required
  • Facilitation of risk reviews including HAZOP
  • Champion the Management of Change (MOC) system, and provide technical support for MOC reviews
  • Contribute to Operational Incident Classification and Investigations
  • Develop and deliver training and communication on key risk systems and processes
  • Ensure effective implementation of the Operational Excellence Management System (OEMS)
  • Perform work in a manner that supports continuous improvement, and contribute to improvement initiatives relating to Ampol's Risk Management Framework (ARMF)

About you

You will be someone who is able to adapt quickly to high-risk situations, problem solve and move with changing priorities. You will have highly developed written and oral communication skills including the ability to translate concepts and strategies into actions.

Key skills and experience

  • Extensive experience in Process Safety &
    Risk Management
  • Experience in facilitating risk reviews, including HAZOP
  • Experience in Petroleum or Hazardous Process Industry
  • Current Chartered status with a professional engineering institution, such as Engineers Australia (EA) or Institute of Chemical Engineers (IChemE)
  • Eligible for engineering registration in Queensland (RPEQ)
  • Experience in management of MHF Safety Cases
  • Experience in Management of Change
  • Experience in bowtie analysis and critical control management
  • An understanding of Functional Safety
  • Experience in preparing and managing detailed project work breakdown structures and scheduling
