The Opportunity

We are offering a permanent position for a Senior Process Engineer to join our Process Engineering team as part of our Cochlear Brisbane Operations division based in Newstead. As part of a larger cohort of Engineering talent, the Senior Process Engineer will work collaboratively with a diverse group of people to develop stable and reliable manufacturing processes for new and existing products, support quality, yield and efficiency initiatives or execute manufacturing network optimisation projects to expand Cochlear's manufacturing capabilities to help our recipients Hear now. And always.

Responsibilities include:

Support Global Supply Chain and R&
D project execution by developing and implementing safe, scalable, stable, and robust manufacturing processes across the manufacturing network for new and commercially already available product, according to business and project objectives, target, and timeline.

Responsible for the delivery or update of complex processes, equipment and materials, including equipment installation, calibration, WH&
S assessments and associated technical and process documentation (e.G. Work Instructions, Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis) in accordance to Cochlear's QMS requirements.

Understanding product requirement's and designing a manufacturing process solution through understanding technical requirements.

Planning and executing engineering work packages concerned with unique problems or team challenges, which have an important impact on moderate to large programs. You shall be able to deliver and complete tasks, according to business needs, independently with general supervision.

Responsible for meeting the manufacturing network optimisation strategy by relocating/duplicating processes across the manufacturing network, in line with project objectives, target and timeline within the area of expertise.

Responsible for the execution and documentation of process validation builds, co-ordinate testing of characterisation, verification and validation units and compiling, analysing, and reporting of results.

Developing and performing experimentation and testing to enable characterisation, optimization and troubleshooting of complex processes and equipment. You will be required to document results and analyse such testing to identify data driven conclusions leading to effective technical resolution outside the standard procedure.

Identifying and recommending significant improvements to operational procedures/processes and the capability to influence and persuade internal and external stakeholders where no direct authority.

Provide technical leadership to Engineers and Graduates and may oversee Junior Engineer and/or Technicians.

Must Haves:

Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical / Electrical / Biomedical / Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent.

An engineering professional with minimum 5 years' experience in an engineering related field.

Shall have proven experience planning, developing, introducing, and troubleshooting manufacturing processes independently or with general supervision, within a regulated environment.

Demonstrated experience in equipment and process validation.

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with cross functional teams to ensure project deliverables are achieved.

Shall have the ability to analyse complex test data and use appropriate statistical analysis tools to make sound data driven decisions leading to effective technical resolution outside the standard procedure.

Experience in risk management methodology for new process development.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel &
PowerPoint

Ideal:

Experience in a process development role within a Medical Device and/or Electronics Manufacturing industry.

Familiar with Six Sigma Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.

Working knowledge of DFSS/DMAIC tools, KT Problem Solving &
Decision Making, PDCA and DOE's and applying these tools in the characterization, optimization and troubleshooting of process equipment and technology performance.

Experience working with statistical software (e.G. MINITAB) is desirable for this role.

Experience introducing Surface Mount Technology (SMT) processes (Screen Printing, SPI, Pick &
Place, Reflow) is highly desirable for this role.

Experience introducing Semiconductor processes (Die Attach / Wire Bond / Encapsulation) is desirable for this role.
