We are seeking a data-driven, commercially focused and client facing Senior Consultant to play a pivotal role in our journey to become the world's no 1 payments supply chain consultancy.

Role Overview

CMSPI's Senior Payments Consultants play an integral role within our Consulting team, where they combine payments knowledge with in-depth and meaningful analytics, to present exciting opportunities that drive optimisation across our clients' payment arrangements. The team's goal is to provide powerful data insights to drive tangible improvements to a client's payment strategy and 3rd party supplier arrangements.

As a CMSPI Senior Payments Consultant, you are responsible for the success of the client engagement, ensuring the team delivers the required outputs on time and on budget, and that all quality and governance checks are completed. You will work closely with the Engagement Leader to achieve the strategic objectives and provide maximum value to the client. The Senior Payments Consultant will be the key source of feedback for the wider consulting team on the engagement, and will provide development opportunities for the junior team members.

As a Senior Consultant you would be the point of escalation for all Associates on the project, accountable for the final analysis presented to clients and supporting with checks. You would work closely with the Director of Payments Analytics to ensure that the Associates are set up for success in terms of the resources and training that they need, to be able to offer accurate and detailed analysis. You will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with the client's team and their contacts within the supply chain. With the support of the Senior Associates and Associate Consultants, you will be responsible for the final analysis presented to clients and the following commercial and strategy discussions and negotiations with suppliers.

The key focus areas include:

  • Commercials - produce premium analysis and presentations that demonstrate commercial value, output, and improvements - both to external clients and to internal leaders. Represent the CMSPI brand with authenticity, professionalism, and integrity.
  • Display excellent project management skills to deliver high quality work on time and to budget. This includes leading production of negotiation and tender documentation (where applicable) to be sent to suppliers and clients.
  • Accountable for all written documentation, appendices, and pricing tables including the accuracy of all documents.
  • Responsible for commercial contracts and SLA's for CMSPI and client, supporting VPs where needed.
  • Producing accurate reports to communicate back to clients through various methods including Excel, Power BI, written reports, and presentations, with support of the Consulting team.
  • Lead discussions on commercial opportunities and improvements to client arrangements, with clear understanding of how this impacts the overall client engagement (across all projects) and also CMSPI.
  • Demonstrate a tolerance for ambiguity and an ability to flex delivery style to meet various needs - both internally and externally.
  • A point of escalation for Associate and Senior Associate Consultants on project analysis. Provide detailed feedback as part of the checking process and support development conversations. Checks completed in a timely manner, to ensure all project deadlines are met.
  • Work closely with the Director of Payments Analytics to improve internal processes, standards and templates for efficient and accurate project analysis.
  • Proactively looking for solutions to recurring issues and partake in focus groups to provide feedback and suggestions.
  • Knowledgeable of each of the markets that CMSPI operates in and our core product offerings and proactively shares this knowledge with junior team members to support their development.
  • Continue to share knowledge from projects with the wider business and supporting Marketing with external events.
  • Work closely with the Director of People Performance to ensure the accurate resourcing and coordination of projects to ensure effective delivery of engagements, all deadlines are met, and the team are fully supported.
  • Support on sales calls and meetings, including product demos where appropriate.

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Economics, Sciences, Mathematics, Business Administration, Finance, or related.
  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience in consulting or account management, including experience in presenting to external stakeholders and managing client expectations.
  • Strong ability to apply logic, creativity, and solid problem-solving techniques across a variety of topics.
  • Interest in innovation and developments around CMSPI's key differentiators - consulting, market intelligence, and sophisticated data analytics.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills, demonstrating an authentic and professional approach to communication.
  • Strong ability to manage multiple, competing projects, priorities, and/or time sensitive issues.
  • Demonstrates proactive behavior in clarifying expectations, asking questions, and understanding deliverables for best outcomes.
  • Demonstrates intellectual curiosity, resilience, and flexibility to work in a fast-growing business and industry.
  • Portrays confidence and desire to interact and engage with our global client base with an appetite to learn about international payment markets and CMSPIs global products and service offerings.
  • Willingness to travel to client and company meetings as required.
  • Competence in and experience utilizing MS Office.
