DEPARTMENT:

Alfred Health's Public Affairs and Communications Department is responsible for the organisation's strategic reputational management ensuring that its brand position and stakeholder relationships contribute to achieving the organisation's long-term goals. The group is responsible for corporate communications, external affairs, media relations, community engagement, internal communications, multimedia production, external digital presence and more.

POSITION:

Alfred Health External Affairs and Media is seeking a motivated individual to join the team as a Senior Media and Communications Advisor.

This trusted and important role in the wider Public Affairs and Communications team is a 12-month fixed-term position (maternity leave replacement), working four days per week (64-hour fortnight).

The role requires broad media relations and communications skills to maintain and raise the health service's profile in a competitive media environment. It focuses on developing and leading promotional and proactive opportunities externally, using traditional and emerging media. It is also plays a key role in working with the Head of External Affairs and Media on issues management and risk communications programs.

Developing integrated external campaigns, using knowledge of social media, promotional engagement and brand positioning is essential. Writing for a variety of publications and media is a major part of the role.

If you have an undergraduate degree in a related discipline (Communications, Public Relations, Social Sciences and/or Journalism), three to five years' experience in public affairs or a related discipline, experience in working directly in the media or within an in-house media department, we are keen to hear from you. Experience in health care is an advantage.
