Period of Appointment

Appointment to the role is on a permanent full-time basis (up to 73.5 hours per fortnight).

Duties

  • Build proactive working relationships with a variety of stakeholders including media organisations, ministerial offices, departmental managers and executives, other government agencies and partner organisations to assess and respond to their varied media and communications needs.
  • Provide strategic media advice in a fast-paced team to identify opportunities and risks, manage issues and enquiries and provide balanced and accurate advice to a range of internal and external stakeholders in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that services, initiatives, and programs are communicated effectively, and assist in the development and implementation of effective communication strategies and initiatives.
  • Provide professional writing, editing and proofreading services to clients to deliver high quality and engaging communications material (including but not limited to media releases, speeches, event packages, briefing kits, magazine articles, internet, intranet and social media content and industry publication content).
  • Quality assure media and communications material and ensure compliance with all government and departmental media and communications policies and processes.
  • Contribute to and maintain the media diary, enquiries register and other systems and contribute to internal reporting as required.
  • Assist the Director, Communications and the Media Manager in the delivery of overall departmental communications requirements.
  • 5+ years of experience in a similar media or communications role.
  • A current full motor vehicle licence.
