About the role
The Senior Legal Counsel role is pivotal to the organisation. Reporting to an impressive and friendly Chief Legal Counsel &
Company Secretary, you will provide commercial, practical and strategic advice and support to the business in a broad range of legal areas to assist the organisation pursuing its strategic objectives.
The key responsibilities of the role will include:
- Reviewing, negotiating and drafting a broad range of commercial contracts including some M&
A work. - Advising and assisting the business with the swift commercial resolution of disputes
- Providing clear legal guidance on corporate, commercial and operational issues.
- Advising the business on a range of legal issues including finance/procurement, insurance, property, marketing, sponsorship, intellectual property, information technology, safety and employment matters.
- Ensuring the company's legal compliance by educating the business on legislation, regulation, and compliance issues (such as work health safety, environment, sustainability, competition, privacy, employment, Modern Slavery reporting) and responding to regulators.
About you
You will be a commercial lawyer with at least 10 years' experience with a reputable law firm and/or in-house experience. Strong negotiating and commercial drafting skills are essential. Experience in litigation or disputes is desirable.
You will be a confident and clear communicator who is able to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organisation. A commercially aware candidate with a pragmatic, practical approach and a good sense of humour is sought.
