About the opportunity

We are searching for a senior level qualified legal practitioner to lead our internal legal and compliance function to support our Australia and New Zealand business. This role will be based in Melbourne and report to senior executives on local legal affairs, and to general counsel on regional and global legal matters. This role will work together with legal colleagues in Asia, US, and EMEA.

Responsibilities include:

• Draft and review commercial agreements, such as supply agreements, services agreements, IT agreements, confidentiality agreements, leases, and other commercial contracts
• Review and update internal policies and documents such as staff manuals, staff policies, training modules, employment agreements, and product warranty terms
• General advice regarding compliance with the Competition and Consumer Act
• Product safety, product recalls, consumer claims, and insurance claims
• Data protection law compliance
• Responsible supply chain compliance
• Manage and cooperate with external legal counsel to Provide updates on legislation, cases and proposed legislation in ANZ, that are applicable to TTI business
• Lead and develop a small inhouse legal and compliance team
• Annual training (and prepare training materials) for staff
• Liaise and cooperate with global legal colleagues in Asia, US and EMEA and implement global legal initiatives locally

About you

You are a senior-level Australia-qualified lawyer with expertise on general commercial agreements and competition and consumer laws.

You require:

• Senior level legal experience within a similar environment either inhouse or within a legal practice supporting similar clients
• Well-developed business acumen and commercial nous
• The capability to manoeuvre through complex global corporate settings and challenging business environments
• Proven experience in advising senior level executives on strategies and complex legal issues
• Previous team leadership experience
