Join the Sydney FPGA development team which is responsible for developing and supporting the company's FPGA globally.

The Senior FPGA Engineer will work closely with our Tech Lead and cross-functional teams. You will contribute to the architectural decisions and translate design specifications into efficient FPGA code. Your expertise in hardware description languages (HDL) such as Verilog or VHDL will be essential in crafting FPGA designs that meet stringent performance and functionality requirements.

What you'll be involved in:

  • Designing, developing, and optimizing solutions in collaboration with the tech lead and team.
  • Providing technical expertise to the team, assisting with problem-solving, and offering guidance on FPGA-specific design challenges.
  • Reviewing and ensuring the quality of designs, code, and implementation strategies to maintain best practices and standards.
  • Coordinating with cross-functional teams, including hardware and software teams, to ensure seamless integration and functionality.
  • Identifying opportunities to enhance performance through techniques like pipelining, parallel processing, and memory optimization.
  • Ensuring proper documentation of design decisions, implementation details, and troubleshooting procedures for future reference.
  • Overseeing the testing and verification processes, including simulation and emulation, to ensure the design meets the specified requirements.
  • Guiding and mentoring junior team members, helping them improve their FPGA design skills and knowledge.
  • Collaborating with vendors, evaluating new technologies, and staying updated with the latest developments in the FPGA field.
  • Continuous learning and keeping up to date with advancements in technology and methodologies and incorporating relevant practices into the team's workflow.

What we need from you:

  • PhD Electronic Engineering or a related field and equivalent work experience, OR;
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
  • Strong demonstrable skills in FPGA development and complex simulations using Modelsim or Questa.
  • Knowledge of UDP, TCP/IP, PCI-E, QDR and DDR3 interfaces.
  • Experience with Python development and using Cocotb library for verification is a plus
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Financial industry experience;
    market feeds and order execution API's, derivatives trading is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills to convey complex technical concepts clearly.
