The Australian Human Rights Commission has a full time ongoing EL2 position for a Senior Director Human Rights Education, Partnerships and Projects. Salary range is $134,235 - $157,759 + 15.4% superannuation.
This position reports to the Chief Executive and leads our international engagement;
workplace and communityeducation;
and security agency partnerships teams. The role also provides strategic leadership to other domestic partnerships and provides oversight of externally funded projects - reporting to the Projects &
Partnerships governancesubcommittee. This role will collaboratively engage with the Commission's Policy Senior Executive and provide leadership to the Senior Policy Group. The role also involves identifying new opportunities for policy partnerships and projects.
The key duties of the position include
International Partnerships

  • Lead the development and management of international partnerships across the Asia-Pacific region.
  • Provide leadership in the delivery of international cooperation activities, through collaboration activities across the Commission.
  • Identify and develop new international partnerships/alliances through human rights policy project funding.

Partnerships and projects - identification, assessment, oversight and reporting

  • Provide strategic advice to the Commission Executive on potential projects and partnerships in alignment with the Commission Strategy and Workplan, including their corresponding resourcing models.
  • Lead the development and sustainment of relationships with government and key interest groups to effectively position the Commission to identify opportunities and maintain strategic alliances.
  • Create viable and sustainable business development opportunities and proposals for consideration by the Commission's Executive.
  • Lead a commission-wide cohesive approach to the management of external projects and partnerships.
  • Apply a robust approach to identifying and effectively managing risks through risk assessments for potential projects being considered.
  • Share learnings and contemporary approaches to effective project delivery.

Workplace Community Education

  • Oversight of the Commission's Workplace &
    Community Education function (external fee-for-service) to promote and develop opportunities for human rights education and training programs.
  • Lead business development opportunities to enhance outreach and expansion of the Commission's training and education programs.

Strategic Advice &
Leadership

  • Participate as part of the Commission's Senior Leadership Team
  • Provide strategic leadership on Commission wide partnerships, external projects and initiatives.
  • Lead high performing teams of multi-disciplinary professionals across all facets of human rights.
  • Lead the design and implementation of a Project/Program Management Framework that provides visibility of the Project Portfolio ensuring leading practice in project/program management is incorporated into all Commission Projects and Partnerships.
  • Represent the Commission in public, community and other engagement opportunities across human rights policy development and partnership opportunities.

These duties are to be performed in accordance with the APS Code of Conduct and APS Values and Commission policies, including Workplace Diversity and Work Health and Safety. Under section 25 of the Public Service Act 1999 the Commission may re-assign the duties of an employee from time to time.
