This role presents an exciting opportunity to cultivate a dynamic and fulfilling career in industrial relations by joining the Industrial Relations, Public Sector (IRPS) team within the Office of Industrial Relations (OIR). As an Senior Consultant, you will work as part of a dedicated team, partnering with a wide range of Queensland public sector entities, Government Owned Corporations and other stakeholders to implement the Queensland Government's industrial relations agenda and policies.

In this role, you will have a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience in the Queensland industrial relations jurisdiction, in a central Government role with exposure to a diverse range of clients and industrial relations work.

You will actively contribute to advice, activities, and projects within and on behalf of the IRPS team including in the following areas:

- development and implementation of wages policy and broader industrial relations policy matters;
- enterprise bargaining;
- industrial instrument interpretation;
- technical and strategic advice on employment matters;
- negotiation and advocacy in tribunals and forums;
and
- capability development initiatives.

Key responsibilities include:

- Providing high quality policy and technical and strategic advice to public sector entities, Government Owned Corporations, and other stakeholders on industrial relations matters, including matters arising under the Industrial Relations Act 2016, awards, certified agreements, Ministerial directives, circulars, guidance notes, and policies;
- Support collaboration, consultation, advice and negotiations with government entities and other key stakeholders to promote collaborative industrial relations and support cross-sector industrial implementation strategies that are responsive to individual agency needs;
- Assisting in advocating on behalf of the Queensland Government and public sector clients in workplace bargaining negotiations and other tribunals;
- Contributing to the research, analysis, development, implementation and review of Queensland Government employment and industrial relations issues, policies, strategies, and initiatives;
- Support broader industrial relations projects and activities, such as the review of Ministerial directives and capability development initiatives;
and
- Preparing andpresenting high level discussion papers, correspondence and briefing material relating to a range of complex employment relations issues.

Key capabilities for this role include:

- Build and sustain productive and professional relationships with team members and internal/external stakeholders enabling collaborative approaches to employment relations issues;
- Operate in an honest, ethical and professional manner, taking personal responsibility for accurate completion of work within timeframes and quality requirements;
- Provide sound strategic, operational and technical advice on industrial relations matters to a variety of stakeholders;
- Can represent Queensland Government and public sector clients in employment relations matters (such as workplace bargaining negotiations) in complex and constrained environments;
and
- Prepare and present clear and succinct high-level discussion papers and advice including outlining strategy, risks, options, and consequences (both written and oral) on complex employment relations issues.

While there are no mandatory conditions or qualifications for this role, OIR values relevant experience and/or tertiary qualifications in the industrial relations, law, business, and public policy fields of endeavour.
