About the Role

As the Senior Completions Engineer you will provide technical oversight for planning, designing, contracting and operations Completion and Well Servicing team for Santos' onshore coal seam gas (CSG, CBM) assets in Queensland and New South Wales.

The role will provide guidance and support to other engineers on completions and well servicing projects. A key part of the role will see you work closely with the field teams to ensure safe and efficient operations and develop strategies to optimise cost of well construction and well servicing operations.

In addition, we are seeking an individual who enjoys mentoring junior engineers and has the demonstrated ability to assist in the development of both technical skillset and critical thinking.

Occasional travel to Santos' onshore field based locations will be required.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Provide guidance and quality control on completions, workovers, P&
  A and other well services operations to members of the completion engineering team.
• Promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility within the team and with external partners.
• Assist in the preparation of completions and well servicing programs.
• Plan and manage inventory requirements for long lead items and issue bids for services, purchase orders, material transfers. Interface with vendors and service providers to ensure equipment and services are provided in a timely manner.
• Work with internal teams to identify initiatives to improve pump run life while achieving the right balance of cost and performance.
• Support the analysis and interpretation of completions data to optimise performance and reduce operational risks.
• Contribute to the preparation of technical reports, presentations, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
• Participate in post-job analyses and lessons learned sessions to drive continuous improvement in completions operations.
• Lead or participate in the risk assessment process during well planning, design and operations. Develop documentation and verify mitigations, ensuring the close out of actions.
• Lead or participate in incident investigations and contractor EHS audits as required.
• Be familiar with government regulations and assist in ensuring the well-site operations are in accordance with these regulations.

About You

Essential experience required for this position includes:

• 10+ year of related experience in completion and well services
• Extensive exposure to completions and well servicing operations in a fast paced onshore operation with multiple workover rigs and other well servicing units supporting a large population of producing wells
• Experienced in onshore operation with significant exposure to PCP and SRP artificial lift system
• Experience with underbalanced well intervention and snubbing operations
• Demonstrated ability to mentor coach and develop junior engineers
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills that can be applied across disciplines.
• Ability to respond flexibly to the company's needs and understand the appropriate level of detail for the specific task.

Essential qualifications required for this position are:

• Bachelor of Science degree in engineering
