We are seeking an experienced Senior Lawyer to join our Child Support Legal Service team in providing high quality legal services in child support, family law matters and family violence intervention order matters.

  • Full time ongoing position (part time considered)
  • Salary based on experience, range:
    $98,902 - $123,624 (pro rata) plus super
  • Up to $15,900 in salary packaging and hybrid WFH &
    office model

About the role:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Lawyer to provide high quality legal services including legal advice, complex case work, duty lawyer services, representation and undertake negotiation and dispute resolution on behalf of clients in child support, family law and family violence intervention order matters.

In this role, you will provide supervision and mentoring to junior legal staff and engage with and participate in policy initiatives, VLA projects, law reform work and community legal education. This is a great opportunity to develop your leadership and mentoring skills.

This role is based at our Melbourne CBD office on Wurundjeri Country

About you:
As our ideal candidate, you will possess:

  • Experience with child support/child protection law or related areas where you have developed transferrable skills.
  • Proven ability to advocate and handle cases, employing innovative strategies to address systemic issues and improve outcomes for child support clients, particularly in cases of family violence and financial abuse.
  • Ability to lead, mentor, supervise and train staff and perform duties without direct supervision.
  • Current Australian practising certificate which entitles you to practise in Victoria as a government legal practitioner (mandatory).
