About the role:

The Senior Asset Capacity Engineer within Asset Management is responsible for providing engineering and technical services in order to support and influence the growth and operations of Jemena's gas assets. The Asset Capacity Engineer will apply the discipline of Asset Capacity theory to perform analysis, evaluation of assets Asset Capacity and their sub-components and identify requirements for asset optimisation.

The role is required to collaborate with other Jemena teams to develop initiatives and strategies that optimise costs, improve efficiency and streamline processes across the Gas Markets asset base, applying an iterative and recursive problem-solving process that considers the trade-off between individual assets and whole asset Asset Capacity, as well as the relationships and dependencies between different key assets.

The Asset Capacity engineering approach is fundamental to bringing high performing fit-for-purpose and cost-effective Asset Capacity into being delivering outcomes that ensure the optimal supply of gas to Jemena's customers whilst ensuring safety, reliability, integrity and long-term value of the gas assets is maintained.

Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Assess the efficiency and effectiveness of existing asset operations and Asset Capacity to establish a base for developing process and asset system improvements.
  • Identify and evaluate asset Capacity and their sub-components and define requirements for asset optimisation.
  • Prepare, analyse and interpret data to produce information used to assess the present and future asset and system performance.
  • Develop and analyse asset information and models to identify limitations and debottlenecking initiatives to optimise asset operation and performance.
  • Develop and update Capacity Reports for Gas Markets assets for external publishing, for use in contracting each asset.
  • Provide engineering services throughout the project life cycle, including Develop Scope of Works, Investment Proposals and project related documentation to support delivery
  • Provide planning / modelling support for planned and unplanned outages on all Gas Markets Assets.
  • Assist with troubleshooting, development of response actions, operational guidelines and implementation of solutions for unplanned outages.
  • Support incident / near miss investigations relating to the failure of equipment or supply interruptions.
  • Supporting Gas Markets as a subject matter expert for Asset Capacity, capacity and pipeline modelling.
  • Actively engaged in obtaining and maintaining engineering accreditation and competency development.

About you:

Substantial period as a member of a team undertaking system engineering for at least one asset system.

  • A broad understanding of the commercial and technical interactions/requirements that enable sound asset management principles in the planning, design and optimisation of assets.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate, analyse, isolate and interpret business needs.
  • Technical experience in development of effective and optimal capacity designs, through complex modelling processes.
  • Sound knowledge of general commercial constraints and requirements, standard pipeline products and contracts, and other general pipeline commercial knowledge
  • Sound engineering knowledge to be able to look at part of the system in detail and develop a detailed understanding of technical system constraints
  • Hands-on experience in creating and maintaining complex databases, including front-end interfaces.
  • Experience in the development of detailed documentation of business requirements, detailed options analysis and financial analysis, process modelling and business case development.
  • Demonstrable and comprehensive experience of contemporary analysis techniques and tools.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), negotiation, consultation, change management, document and report writing skills.
