ABOUT THE ROLE

An exciting opportunity now exists for a Security and Network Engineer to join our dynamic ICT Department. This newly created position will be responsible for sustaining our networks and systems crucial for the operational integrity and security of Camberwell Grammar School staff, students and parents.

Reporting directly to the ICT Security and Infrastructure Manager, you will work collaboratively with the wider ICT team to ensure a resilient, efficient and trustworthy network infrastructure for the School.

You will play a key role in systems maintenance and administration through configuring and supporting all network functions and ensuring security at all times. This role encompasses a blend of infrastructure management, expertise in IT security, and hands-on support for staff and students.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Windows AD, LDAP and SSO authentication services
  • Data and application backup and recovery systems
  • Network and system security provision including firewalls, web and application filtering and intrusion detection systems
  • Physical LAN and WAN cabling and infrastructure in accordance with industry best practice
  • Network monitoring systems
  • Analyse, evaluate and monitor network infrastructure to ensure networks are configured to operate at optimal performance
  • Install, configure, test, administer and maintain computer networks and related networking devices including routers, switches, firewalls, servers, workstations and related systems such as database applications
  • Test, and implement system and security upgrades
  • Monitor and troubleshoot network stability and performance
  • Create, adjust, and maintain network user settings and permissions
  • Assist in network design and implementation
  • Maintain stable and consistent connectivity across all network computers
  • Use Windows Active Directory Services to do various system administration tasks such as user account management, log review, active directory management, group policies, patching and system maintenance
  • Liaise with various software vendors and their Level 1-3 help desk personnel to troubleshoot applications used throughout the school

ABOUT YOU

You describe yourself as a tech-savvy generalist who is not afraid to get involved. You are solutions focused and have a learning mindset. You thrive working in a fast-paced and evolving work environment as well as working collaboratively as part of a team. You will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written).

Experience in infrastructure and cloud engineering is essential. You will also have excellent technical skills and knowledge relating to installation and support of network technologies. Experience in repairing and maintaining network and communication services is desirable.
