  • Full time/Fixed term - 76 hours per fortnight. No after hours required.

New Farm Clinic provides a comprehensive range of acute mental health inpatient, day and outpatient services. The Clinic has four inpatient specialist Units:
22 bed Eating Disorders Unit, 20 bed Addictions Unit, 17 bed adolescent unit and 60 general psychiatry.

About the role

Our comprehensive training program addresses all the requirements of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists whilst providing relevant and extensive experience in Inpatients, Outpatients and Day patients.

Ramsay Health runs a highly regarded speciality rotation program covering all aspects of the training requirements for Child &
Adolescent, Addictions,Eating Disorders and General Adult. Positions would also be suitable for trainees wanting to undertake advanced training in Psychotherapy.

You will have the opportunity to work with and be supervised by leading experts in the specialists' fields:

The Medical Director and College Training Supervisor for Eating Disorders is Associate Professor Warren Ward. Warren is an Associate Professor at The University of Queensland and has held the position of Director,Queensland Eating Disorders Service (QuEDS) since 2005. He was Chair of the Queensland Health Eating DisorderAdvisory Group and co-author of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatry (RANZCP) ClinicalPractice Guidelines for Eating Disorders.

The Medical Director for the Addiction Program is Dr Wole Akosile who is anaddiction specialist (Fellow of two colleges, FRANZCP and FAChAM) who has several peer-reviewed research in addiction, psychiatry and dual diagnosis. He is an adjunct senior lecturer at the University of Queensland. He provides inpatient and outpatient services which include holistic management of substance use disorders and non-substance use disorder psychiatric diagnosis, consideration of individual psychotherapy, pharmacotherapy, functional restoration and neuro-stimulation. He recently completed his PhD at QUT and his research was on the link between PTSD and coronary artery disease. He also runs a trauma research program within the addiction unit which exposes trainees to trauma informed care.

The Medical Director for the Child and Adolescent Service is Professor James Scott (University QLD) is aChild and Youth Psychiatrist and the Medical Superintendent at New Farm. He has an interest in providing care to children and young people with anxiety, ADHD, psychosis and mood disorders. His clinical practice incorporates a biopsychosocial model with intensivefamily involvement.

The Medical Director for General Psychiatry is Dr Malcolm Foxcroft. Dr Malcolm Foxcroft is a very experienced general adult psychiatristwith experience across a range of inpatient and outpatient settings.

About you

To be successful in this role you will possess:

  • Successful completion of a medical degree
  • Current APHRA Medical Registration
  • Ideal for stage 3 trainees looking to transition into Private Practice
  • Eligibility to obtain APHRA general Medical registration by the commencement date
