Privacy Officer, Office of Corporate Counsel - APS Level 6


Employment Opportunity
The Freedom of Information and Privacy (FOIP) Section in the Office of Corporate Counsel is primarily responsible for processing the departments access to information requests under the FOI and Privacy Acts. The section is also responsible for coordinating and reporting on public interest disclosures (PID) and coordinating the departments contribution to the Government's regulatory reform agenda.
We are looking for a committed, dynamic and innovative Privacy Officer to join our team. Successful candidates are likely to have opportunities to undertake work across the sections diverse responsibilities, and to build professional networks across the department.
As a Privacy Officer, you will exercise your strong statutory interpretation skills by working collaboratively with business areas to provide practical and solution-focused advice on a variety of complex, high-profile matters, including policy implementation and reforms, and program and legislative compliance. You will hone your decision-making abilities when assessing complex and significant privacy and FOI requests, including drafting submissions to senior decision makers within the department.
Privacy Officers engage proactively on privacy compliance, deliver privacy training to internal stakeholders, and work with the departments Privacy Champion to find new and innovative ways to promote privacy awareness. We also arrange privacy and PID training through the Australian Government Solicitor to enhance your specialist skills.
