BUPA Dental is seeking a Principal Dental Assistant to join our team on a part time basis and drive the efficient management and delivery of dental services across our network. You will be responsible for ensuring adherence to BUPA's standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance, as well as offering leadership and support to Dental Assistants and clinical teams. You will also contribute to continuous service improvement, striving to meet accreditation standards and achieve organisational goals.

As a Principal Dental Assistant, you will:

  • Work with the clinical team and provide high-level guidance, management, leadership, support, and shared responsibility for overseeing strategic planning, implementation, compliance, and supervision of local, state, and national policies, procedures, regulations, and standards that affect the position, including sterilisation and instrument reprocessing, infection control and chairside dental assisting.
  • Conduct relevant audit processes including workplace skills assessments, and relevant audits, including infection control. Develop risk assessments and respond accordingly. Ensure that relevant training programs are in place and that Dental Assistants are being trained properly throughout the entire network.
  • Provide guidance on equipment, instruments, and materials used in a variety of dental procedures including advanced knowledge and understanding of the stages within a dental procedure.
  • Provide expert guidance and knowledge to the Dental Assistant stream regarding the prevention, identification, and management of medical emergencies.
  • Provide feedback and expert knowledge for equipment, instruments, materials, and surgery design to meet infection control standards and operational requirements. Ensure all infection control protocols and relevant standards and guidelines are upheld in the service areas.
  • Participate in the development of procedures and initiatives, including quality and service improvement activities to continually improve patient care. Work with the team on continuous quality improvement to achieve accreditation standards.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Having links with Registered Training organisations is beneficial!
  • Excellent knowledge of accreditation standards and processes.
  • 7+ years experience in a Senior Dental Assistant or Clinical Coordinator role
  • Possession of Cert III in dental assisting or equivalent is mandatory.
  • Previous experience contributing to system wide policies and processes.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
  • A strong commitment to customer service and quality care
  • A positive and proactive attitude
